Classwork: Any worksheet, composition or group work with class time to complete. Classwork becomes homework if not complete.
Playing Quizzes: Students are given several days to play an assigned piece that has been worked on in class. Students from time to time also may be given the option of several pieces to play. Students are expected to be prepared and give the best performance they can. Not playing at all results in a zero. Talk to the director if you need additional help with playing in front of others.
Rehearsal Techniques: Students earn 20 points per day for having all materials, participating, and following the rules of the class. At the end of the week, total points are given as a grade. Forgotten instruments, music, reeds, etc., will result in missed points.
Practice Records: Practice records will be given out periodically throughout the school year. Each student is responsible to practice the objectives listed on the practice record. Some objectives listed on the practice record will become playing exams that will happen using SmartMusic. A parent signature is required for full credit when turning in a practice record.
Performances: Students are expected to be at ALL performances and wear appropriate concert attire. Performances are 30% of your grade. Check the procedures section of this website for the performance policy. Check the calendar for all events this year.
