Meet the Director
Brad Mitchell is originally from Fayette, Alabama. He received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from The University of Alabama. White attending the University, Mr. Mitchell performed in the Million Dollar Marching band, in the university wind ensemble, was Contrabassoonist in the University Contemporary Ensemble, and in the University Orchestra. Mr. Mitchell also performed with the Tuscaloosa and Montgomery Symphony Orchestras.
After graduation in 1994, Mr. Mitchell was employed as assistant band director at Franklin County High School and as director of the North Junior High Bands. In 1997, Mr. Mitchell became a Graduate Teaching Assistant at MTSU. While at MTSU Mr. Mitchell was a member of the wind ensemble, orchestra, Band of Blue and was an assistant in music appreciation and saxophone/double reed ensembles.
After receiving his Master of Arts degree in 1999, Mr. Mitchell came to Cox Middle School. Mr. Mitchell has also taught "Music in the Elementary Grades" for MTSU through Columbia State Community College. Mr. Mitchell recently completed is Masters Plus 30. In 2006 he was selected as the CMS Teacher of the Year. He plays saxophone in the Merchants of Cool Jazz Band and was one of the conductors of the Maury County Community Band. Mr. Mitchell is a member of MTSBOA, TMEA, and MENC.
Mr. Mitchell attended the Tennessee Arts Academy in July 2011.
